Hüseyin and Kartoffelkönig

Hüseyin opened Kartoffelkönig on Theresienstraße in 2015. He has been behind the counter ever since. The face in our logo is his, by the way.

In Munich since 2015

It started with the baked potato. Kumpir is a familiar sight in Istanbul, but in Munich in 2015 you had to look hard for it. Hüseyin wanted to serve food that fills you up, tastes fresh, works without meat and is affordable for students.

The seitan kebab followed soon after, at a time when vegan kebab was still a rarity in Munich. It quickly became the dish we are known for. The second shop in the Riem Arcaden opened in 2020.

Today we also supply other restaurants with our seitan under the name Seitankönig. In autumn 2026 we refurbished the Theresienstraße shop, reworked the menu and gave Kartoffelkönig a new look.
