Same owner since 2015

In 2015 Hüseyin opened Kartoffelkönig as a small shop on Theresienstraße, between the university and the museums. The Riem Arcaden followed in 2020.

He still runs both shops himself, with no franchise and no change of ownership. Kartoffelkönig® is a registered trademark. You will find us in these two places only.

Where can I get vegan kebab in Munich?

At Theresienstraße 122 in Maxvorstadt, a few minutes from the university and the Pinakothek museums (Sunday to Friday 11 am to 8 pm, closed on Saturdays), and at the Riem Arcaden shopping centre in Messestadt Riem (Monday to Saturday 10 am to 8 pm).

Is everything vegan?

Almost everything. The seitan, all toppings and most sauces are vegan. A few yoghurt-based sauces are vegetarian and are labelled at the counter. We serve no meat at all.

What is the vegan kebab made of?

Seitan, which is wheat protein. It turns on a vertical spit, we slice it fresh, heat it in the pan for a minute or two and serve it in flatbread, as a wrap or in a bowl, with salad, vegetables and our own sauces.

What is kumpir?

A Turkish street-food classic: a large baked potato, split open and mashed with butter inside, then filled with vegan cheese and the toppings you choose. Classic comes with three toppings, King with six.

Which toppings and sauces are there?

Red cabbage, sweetcorn, olives, beetroot, giant beans, lentils, chickpea curry, stuffed vine leaves, black beans, couscous, mushrooms, artichokes and more. Sauces include hummus, avocado, salsa, ajvar, babaganoush, olive-feta and basil cream cheese. Most of them are vegan.

Can I pay by card?

Theresienstraße is cash only. In the Riem Arcaden you can pay by card. Our online shop takes card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and more.

Do you have other branches?

No. Kartoffelkönig exists in these two shops in Munich only. Other places using the name are not connected to us.
